Suzanne Seepersad, a Trinidad and Tobago-based independent consultant, was given the contract to oversee the creation of manuals and training materials for important stakeholders in the justice sector. This programme is an essential part of UNDP's larger mission to support rule-of-law reforms throughout the Caribbean, improve institutional efficacy, and increase access to justice.
A competitive and open selection process was ensured by using the UNDP Individual Consultant (IC) method with sealed financials to acquire the consultancy.
The consultant will be in charge of the following under the assignment:
Creating thorough training programmes that are suited to the requirements of employees in the justice sector
Creating guidelines and manuals that are easy to use
Ensuring conformity to global norms concerning human rights, justice, and governance
assisting the development of institutional capacity in pertinent ministries and agencies
In order to improve overall sector performance and strengthen service delivery, the project intends to provide justice system professionals with up-to-date knowledge, standardised procedures, and improved skills.
This consulting supports UNDP's current efforts in Trinidad and Tobago to:
Expand the reach of justice
Encourage openness and responsibility
Boost institutional capability in public sector organisations
Encourage the modernisation and professionalisation of systems for delivering justice.
UNDP aims to support long-term effects and sustainable reforms throughout the justice ecosystem by investing in top-notch training materials and knowledge tools.
It is anticipated that the creation of uniform training materials will:
Enhance operational uniformity among justice institutions
Boost the effectiveness and cooperation of justice sector participants
Increase public confidence in the legal system
Improve victim assistance, case management, and legal procedures.
The consultancy is essential in determining future sector-wide advancements because of the changing demands of the justice sector, particularly in areas like digital transformation, gender-sensitive justice, and human rights compliance.
An important step towards Trinidad and Tobago's justice sector reforms has been taken with the award of this consultancy. The initiative is anticipated to provide high-value training tools that will raise professional standards and strengthen good governance practices throughout the nation's justice institutions with the help of UNDP and the knowledge of the chosen consultant.
